Kerkar crashes through Valley door as ex-Rangers man becomes Charlton’s third signing of the summer

Following a successful trial, Algerian midfielder Salim Kerkar has put pen to paper on a 1-year contract at Charlton. The former Rangers man, who opted to be released from his contract following the crisis club’s decision to form a newco, can play across the midfield and will add strength in depth in a number of positions. Rangers’ fans are split on their views about the 24-year old, with some believing him to be a fantastic player, whilst others thinking he’d struggle in League 1, let alone the Championship. It will be interesting to see where he fits into Chris Powell’s plans. I personally see him as cover for Johnnie Jackson on the left side of midfield.
